Changing Minds, Changing Lives

Our History

The agency was founded in 1953 by a small group of parents from Harford and Cecil Counties seeking services in their communities for their sons and daughters with developmental disabilities. Their efforts began what is today a powerful legacy of advocacy for people of all ages with developmental disabilities and related developmental disabilities that are seeking support to plan their lives and contribute to their communities. Most services that are available today to people with disabilities in northeastern Maryland originated with this organization.
