Services for Children
Family Services
Family Services is designed to provide individual supports to families of children with developmental disabilities living in the community. Any Harford or Cecil County family with a child with a developmental disability, from birth to age 21, is eligible for services. A wide range of services is provided based on the specific needs of each family. Family Support offers assistance in meeting everyday needs, support that is often crucial in avoiding family crises that can become costly, both emotionally and economically.
The wide variety of Family Services are provided by The Arc, and based on each family's needs, includes:
- Family support and parent discussion meetings
- Advocacy in education and health services
- Parent education and training
- Workshops
- Resource information and referral
- In-home support/respite care recruitment and training
- Respite care reimbursement and resources
- Financial assistance with outstanding costs not covered by insurance
- Sibling support groups
- "Teens Together" group
- Parent linkage
- Camp/summer activities resources and financial assistance
- Home/vehicle modifications and resources and financial assistance
- Fun activities for families
- Educational advocacy group
- Newsletter
