After dArc Celebrity Chef Event Dishes Up An Evening of Great Fun!
[ABERDEEN, MD] - Over 350 people were in attendance at the After d'Arc Celebrity Chef and Auction event hosted by The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Maryland Golf & Country Clubs in Bel Air, Maryland.
The event raised over $100,000 for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region's Supported Living Services. Adie Carlyle, Director of Supported Living Services explains, "Funds raised will allow individuals living in the community to maintain their homes, and will cover expenses such as carpeting, new furniture and appliances, as well as helping individuals meet the needs of everyday life to remain connected to family and friends and to take an active part in their communities". Tim Quinn, Executive Director adds, " The event raised more money from a single event than any other event in out history. In fact, it doubled our previous best." Lisa McGann, parent of a child who receives services of The Arc received a standing ovation for her powerful testimonial regarding her experiences with The Arc.
Over 2,000 raffle tickets were sold and over $22,000 was raised in raffle ticket sales for the winning of a new Pontiac Solstice, the car featured in The Apprentice.
Al Bumbry, Former Baltimore Oriole, Mary Chance, Director of Community Services, Harford County Government, Former Delegate Bill Cox and Upper Chesapeake Foundation Member, County Executive David Craig and Melinda Craig, Delegate Sheryl Davis-Kohl, and E.J. Henderson, Minnesota Vikings player were on hand as celebrity chefs at the American station. "Chefs" Daniele Lemarie-Fleischer, Lemarie Interieurs, and Scott Garceau, Channel 2 News Sports Director, served up French cuisine. The Italian cuisine station was represented by "Chef" Tony Meoli, Upper Chesapeake Foundation Member. In addition, "Chef" Steve Fertig, Fox 45 News Meteorologist, served Italian and was auctioned off as a live auction package to benefit The Arc that included lunch, a tour of Fox 45 News station, and a weather broadcasting segment. "Chefs" Billy Church, who receives services from The Arc, and Billy Ripken, Former Baltimore Oriole, served a variety of salads. L'Amore Di Vino provided the wine tasting festivities for the evening.
Aimee O'Neill, O'Neill Enterprises, was the auctioneer for the event, which helped The Arc raise additional funds in addition to the over 100 silent auction items donated by local businesses. D.J. Saxman, Wright Still provided live saxophone and entertainment for the evening. A special thank you to Richardson's Florist who provided the evening's floral centerpieces.
